Dear Birmingham.
In response to your recent plans to demolish the Flapper: I do not want any more fucking shops or luxury apartments or restaurant. Seriously, how many H&M’s or Nando’s’ do you need within a mile radius? Please, just go away and leave our entertainment venues alone!

Well said. Birmingham is swiftly becoming the worlds most bland city. It should be proud and ably to rub shoulders with the likes of New York, Paris, Berlin, San Francisco, Madrid, Barcelona, Melbourne, Sydney, Vancouver, Prague, Budapest, London etc, etc and numerous other truly global cities. Instead it is becoming an embarresment.
Please don’t make the entire city look like Brindleyplace!
The success of a city like Manchester is that it understands, nurtures and celebrates the venues and artistic scene that have helped put it on the map. It is part of its culture and what brings age groups together giving the impression of a hip and interesting place to be, Birmingham is miles behind in this respect so it is therfore not surprising that The Flapper & Firkin looks set to make way for an unimaginative development. I have seen countless great gigs at this venue and it was the hub of the community that drew me to living here, with thriving music festivals in Nottingham, Leicester, Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester the best Birmingham can offer is Gigbeth considered useless by the scen it is meant to represent and celebrate! Birmingham Get a clue!
