Stars of The Lid
May 23rd, 2008 — Music
I’ve never really listened to ambient/drone music and never have I seen it performed live. That said, the Stars of The Lid gig at Hare and Hounds was awshum! I think it only lasted about 3 songs, but with each song weighing in at about 8 minutes it’s a good thing that anymore weren’t played.
Definitely great music to sleep/relax to.

I’m relatively new to the social blogging scene. That is, I’ve had a private blog for years, but only recently ventured out to going public. I’ve got a very small number of people subscribed to my feeds and I get little traffic to my website each day. But that’s not why I blog of course. I do it just ’cause I’ve got something to say. This is why I was really chuffed when I saw that someone had bookmarked my tutorial via del.icio.us

Meeting up is the new crack
May 5th, 2008 — blogging
It seems that since last year and the rise and rise of blogging in Birmingham (or, the discovery that there’s actually people blogging in Birmingham) the new thing to do is to have meetups. Everything has a meetup these days. Wanna knit, go for it. Wanna meet other bloggers, artists, people to discuss things with, people to read with or people to hack and talk tech with? Well, you can! And there’s so many other meetups!
At first I thought all of this was great! You can finally meet other like-minded people in a non-threatening environment. It still is great, but now I wanna see it taken further. Now that you know you can get 30 or so like-minded people in a room what can you do with them?
I’m really eager to see what will come of these meets as there’s so much potential!
